According to a couple of WWW sites, including EW.COM, CBS is considering Australian actor Alex O'Loughlin to fill the shoes of Jack Lord playing Hawaii Five-O boss Steve McGarrett in the upcoming remake of the show. O'Loughlin had a role on the US cop drama The Shield a couple of years ago as well as the lead role on the CBS series Moonlight, where he played a private investigator/vampire.
Do you think this is a good decision?

ReplyDeleteI am of the apparent general consensus that A) the show should not try to recreate old, well established characters with new actors, B)this actor is a pretty boy but to me his ability to fill such big shoes is in big question, and C) it would probably be better to let sleeping dogs lie rather than try to resurrect a famous show that was so identified with certain actors and a certain time period. You will only alienate the old, die-hard fans and the newer viewers won't know or care about any ties to the past show.
